TMT Bar Handling & Bundling System (Chain Transfer system)

In a rolling mill, bar layer transfer is the process of moving multiple rolled bars, typically arranged in a layer, from one location to another, often from the cooling bed to a bundling area. This process is crucial for efficient handling and processing of long products like rebars and wire rods. In a TMT (Thermo-Mechanically Treated) bar rolling mill, the handling and bundling system is a crucial part of the process, ensuring efficient and safe movement and packaging of the finished bars. Key components include a gauge table, transfer devices, chain conveyors, and bundling tables. These systems automate the processes of stacking, bundling, binding, weighing, and labelling the bars.

TMT Bar Layer Transfer Systems:

Chain transfer systems are commonly used to move the layers of bars to the bundling area. These systems can also act as a buffer during bundling operations. Adjustable roller tables can be used to move the bundled bars to a tying area Here's a breakdown of the typical TMT bar handling and bundling process:

1. Cooling and Alignment:

Cooling Bed: After the final rolling pass, TMT bars are transferred to a cooling bed where they are air-cooled, and then they move towards the discharge end.
Transfer: Rake-type cooling beds move the material in stages, controlled by a PLC, ensuring the bars are straightened and uniformly cooled. Bar Layer Transfer: Mechanical or magnetic handling systems are used to transfer layers of bars (straight or reverse) with high stacking cycle performance.

2. Stacking and Bundling:

Stackers: Stackers are used to create layers of bars, and they can be designed with built-in bundling functions for round and flat bars. Bundlers: These machines bundle the bars, and they can be integrated with bar counting systems for rounds and small bundle processing.
Bundle Table: Bars are collected on a bundle table to form master bundles according to market requirements.

3. Binding, Weighing, and Labelling:

Binding: The master bundles are then moved to an automatic tying machine, or tied manually using a pneumatic strapping machine. Weighing and Labelling: All bundles are automatically weighed and labeled for quality control and easy identification.

4. Automation and Control:

Automation: Modern TMT bar rolling mills utilize automation and control systems for efficient and consistent production.
PLC: Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs) are used to automate various processes, including the movement of bars on cooling beds and other stages of handling.

Key Features of the System:

High Production Capacity: The systems are designed for high production rates to meet market demands.
Bar Diameter Flexibility: The system can handle a wide range of bar diameters.
Special Bundle Processing: Systems can be designed to handle bundles of specific weights and sizes.
Reduced Handling Hazards: The use of conveyors and automated systems minimizes manual handling, reducing the risk of accidents.
Quality Control: The integration of weighing and labelling ensures the quality of the final products.
