Flying Shear
A "flying shear" is a specialized type of shear used in continuous material processing, like rolling mills, to cut materials at the line speed without stopping the production process. The Flying is Shear placed to after TMT Quenching Box and before Tail Breaker & Cooling Bed in the QST / TMT Bar Rolling Mil.
A flying shear is an essential component in modern rolling mills, designed to cut rolled metal stock (such as steel QST / TMT bars, Rods) to specific lengths during the continuous rolling process. This high-speed cutting device operates without interrupting the material flow, ensuring efficient production and maintaining product quality.
A start-stop flying shear in a rolling mill is a specialized piece of equipment used to cut hot-rolled steel products to specific lengths while the material is still in motion. It differs from a continuous shear by having the capability to start and stop its cutting action to match the speed of the rolling mill and the desired cut length. This ensures accurate and efficient cutting of the steel as it moves through the rolling mill. Flying shears cut steel products (like QST / TMT bars or rods) as they exit the rolling mill, without stopping the material flow. Flying Shear Cutting the material (QST / TMT Steel Bar & Rod) into specific lengths for further processing or sale. The Flying shear is driven by a DC motor & DC drive and A PLC (Programmable Logic Controller) system coordinates the shear's movement, speed, and cutting action to match the rolling mill's speed and the desired cut length. The shear's speed is synchronized with the material's speed using sensors (like optical-electricity encoders) to ensure accurate cuts. The shear starts cutting when the material reaches the desired position and stops after the cut is complete, allowing the material to continue moving.
