Automatic Rake Type Cooling bed
A Automatic raceway type cooling bed in a bar rolling mill is a crucial piece of equipment located after the final rolling stand. It's designed to support and gradually cool hot-rolled steel bars, transferring them from the entry side to the discharge side while ensuring uniform cooling and preventing bending. This controlled cooling process is essential for achieving desired material properties and dimensional stability. Automatic rake type cooling bed which transfers the material by one pitch for every rake movement. These are provided with twin channel bar delivery system or run in table with apron type diverters. The bed is provided with bar alignment.
The primary function is to cool the hot-rolled steel bars from high temperatures (often above350°C to 700°C) down to a temperature suitable for subsequent processing (typically below 150°C). It also moves the bars from the mill's exit to the discharge end, often using a phased, step-by-step movement. Some cooling beds incorporate features like lifting aprons or twin channels to straighten the bars and prevent bending or deformation during cooling.
